Send tenancies from your own software

Create a tenancy in Rentwick from your property management system (Fixflow or any other): we add the property if it’s new, start a reference for each tenant and guarantor, and email each their link to apply, exactly as if they’d been added in the dashboard. You can then read progress and download the reports.

1. Get an API key

The account owner makes one in Settings → Connect your other software. Send it with every request as Authorization: Bearer rw_live_…. Keep it secret; make a new one if it’s ever exposed.

2. Create a tenancy

Rent shares left out are split equally. guarantor_for is the tenant’s email (or their position in the list, 1 for the first). Sending the same external_ref again returns the tenancy already made instead of a second one.

The answer (201) is the tenancy: tenancy_id, dashboard_url, and each applicant with id, stage, apply_url and, once they’ve applied, the outcome. On monthly invoicing the links are emailed at once; on card payment, awaiting_payment is true and you pay in the dashboard, which sends them.

stage is one of pay, applicant, refs, review, complete; outcome is accepted, guarantor (accepted with a guarantor), checks (further checks needed) or progress.

Errors

401 wrong or missing key · 400 something missing (the message says what) · 404 not found · 429 more than 600 requests an hour.
